We visit the local jail each week to offer life training skills to inmates who are incarcerated in the city jail. Relationships are developed as we seek to rescue lives from self deprecating behaviors.
We have strategic partnerships with New Jersey Department of Corrections and Parole to development and implement reentry strategies in CamdenCity and CamdenCounty. The focus of this mission is to provide for Reentry support. Each month we host the Camden area Reentry Taskforce meeting at our offices. The taskforce is made up of many key government, community and faith leaders from our area.
It is a sad fact that many fathers are incarcerated today. This significantly contributes to the systemic cycle of poverty we see in poor communities across the country. Studies indicate that a good Reentry Plan will significantly reduce recidivism from its current unacceptable rate of 83%. This revolving door of incarceration is devastating, as it contributes to the continued deterioration of family life in the community.
Our Prison Fellowship Program will return more fathers and mothers to the homes they were forced to leave as a result of crime and incarceration. Strategically, the Nex-Level Entrepreneur’s program is helpful to reentry; as it offers hope of income to the formerly incarcerated by connecting former inmates with small businesses and corporations who hire formerly incarcerated people. To obtain a livable wage is much more difficult for a felon once he/she is released from prison or jail; therefore, it is imperative that former offenders return to society with dignity and respect by becoming meaningful wage earners.
